10th Anniversary Champions for Children awardees
A highlight of the 2009 Benefit will be the honoring of the very first Champions for Children: HCEF founder Joe Lagana and the women and men who joined with him to create a non-profit organization that would speak for and promote equality of educational opportunities for children who are homeless in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
Also to be honored as a Champion for Children is Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Gerald Zahorchak, who is committed to ensuring that all Pennsylvania children have access to a broad range of supportive after-school programming that will help them succeed in the classroom and in life. Read a brief biography of Dr. Zahorchak and listen as he speaks about these issues.
See HCEF's honor roll of past awardees.
Invitations to join with us in this 10th anniversary celebration will be mailed in early December. Not on our mailing list? Call us at 412-562-0154. We'll be happy to send one your way. Also at that time it will be possible to purchase "tickets" here electronically.
