Upcoming Events "Making It Happen" for HCEF's Kids
September 18 - November 1, 2009
Off Corrigan Drive, South Park
Benefiting the Homeless Children's Education Fund
and Animal Friends
The Haunted House at Hundred Acres Manor regularly appears on the list of best haunted houses in the region and last year welcomed 24,500 visitors through its creaking doors. Those 24,500 attendees meant a $45,000 donation to HCEF and also to Animal Friends.
Operated entirely by volunteers, the Haunted House is redesigned annually to reflect new story lines. A highlight of the 2009 adventure will be the guaranteed hair-raising chills and startled screams emitted as participants encounter the new gargoyle display. The faint of heart among you be forewarned!

As you can imagine, it takes a lot of volunteers to produce and operate this Halloween adventure. Hundred Acres Manor looks for talented individuals to join its core staff at any time during the year. Individuals as well as groups (14 years of age and older) interested in joining the team should email to volunteer@hundredacresmanor.com with the subject "Volunteer Me!" and a detailing of experience and areas of interest, from hammering and painting to acting. Groups should indicate their specific interest and the date/dates they will be available to serve. Groups will receive a donation for their participation.
Also sought are volunteers to assist with ticket sales, parking, and crowd control for one of the 32 days of the event.
There are three types of events, based upon the number of patrons expected to attend:
- Event A (1,000 to 1,500 patrons expected) requires 10-12 volunteers
- Event B (750 to 1,000 patrons expected) requires 6-8 volunteers
- Event C (500 to 750 patrons expected) requires 4 volunteers
Typically, attendance is greatest on Friday and Saturday nights.
Although the "full-bodied" 2009 version of the Haunted House website will not be completed until mid-summer, you will find a 2009 event schedule and basic information here.
Warm thanks for your support of events benefiting HCEF
and the children we serve.
