The HCEF Endowment Fund provides a transportation allowance of up to $300 for educational field trips. These grants enable agencies to transport their children and moms to such destinations as the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, Children's Museum, Society for Contemporary Craft, National Aviary, Carnegie Science Museum, Laurel Caverns, Gateway Clipper cruises, Ohio Pyle State Park, and the Phipps Conservatory.
The zoo is always a favorite destination, with plenty to see and do.
Two friends climb on a pretend termite mound.
Elephants wave long trunks and twitch big floppy ears.
Seals rest after a fast swim around the pool. Mother and child enjoy a leisurely walk through the park.
There comes a time when nothing is more inviting than park benches in the shade, an opportunity to rest tired feet and feed fussing babies, a quiet time to talk about everything we've seen and learned together.
All too soon, it is time to leave. "See you later, Alligator!"
"After while, Crocodile!"
